The City of Swan YAC (Youth Advisory Committee) invites Year 7 to Year 10 students to participate in a competition of motor mouth proportions - the Youth Out Loud Public Speaking Competition.

Now in its second year, this public speaking competition was developed in memory of the late Mayor Charlie Gregorini in recognition of the passion and dedication to young people that Charlie Gregorini demonstrated throughout his tenure at the City of Swan. The event was also designed to enable young people of the City of Swan to voice their thoughts on current issues.

The competition is open to students in two categories: Junior, for Years 7 and 8, and Intermediate, for students in Years 9 and 10. Winners in both categories receive $200 cash, with $100 cash for second place.

Participants will be asked to write a six minute speech on one of this year's topics:

• The mouse that roared
• It's a chain reaction
• The more things change…
• The problem is fear

HEATS will be held on Monday August 16, 5.30PM - 7.30PM at Guildford Grammar School with the Finals night on Friday September 3 at Guildford Town Hall. ALL WELCOME - come along and hear the thoughts & opinions of our eloquent young people!

The Swan Art Awards Exhibition is the premier visual arts exhibition held by the City of Swan. This annual exhibition showcases the creative talents of established, new and emerging artists from across Western Australia, with many local artists from the Swan region. And, this year, we anticipate displaying more than 200 artwork entries including sculptures. Once again, we'll be awarding the $10,000 Acquisitive Excellence Award to the most outstanding work of art. This piece will then form part of the City of Swan's art collection. We hope you'll join us to view some of the enormous talent that Australia has to offer.

The Christmas Spectacular is on again! This fun-filled and interactive event is perfect for people of all ages. Get into the spirit and sing along to Christmas carols, performed by the Hills Symphony Orchestra. Kids can even help the orchestra play their instruments.
