Celebrating Library and Information Week 2013

Do you have stories of people and places that you would love to write about? 

Workshop conductor Michele Bishop will guide participants to put pen to paper through interesting writing exercises and discussions.

So come along and share your story!

Michele has been an avid writer since being given her first pencil. She has worked in the fields of radio, printing, nursing, arts management, teaching and training. Her editing credits include working with community groups to help them self-publish their own creative work, marking for the WA Department of Education, and of course as a writer, struggling to limit the self-editing process to promote readability but not stifle creativity.

Bookings for this free event are essential as places are limited.

Suicide is the leading cause of death for Australian males aged under 44 years and women under 34 years. In most cases, suicide is preventable.

One Life is a state-wide Suicide Prevention Strategy that supports local communities to take action. We have been consulting with the Ellenbrook Place community and we would now like to present your local Suicide Prevention Community Action Plan for your feedback. This is a unique opportunity to have your say and ensure your local Community Action Plan is what you and your community want.

One Life is a Western Australian Suicide Prevention Strategy implemented by Centrecare Incorporated on behalf of the Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention and funded by the Mental Health Commission.

Multi-award winning author Helene Young will be visiting Ellenbrook Community Library to talk about her latest romantic suspense novel titled Half Moon Bay.

Touted as the next Nora Roberts, Helene has won the Romance Writers of Australia Romantic Book of the Year Award in 2011 and 2012. She also was voted Most Popular Romantic Suspense Author by Romance Readers of Australia in 2010 and 2011, as well as being short-listed in 2012.

Signed copies of Helene's book will be available for purchase through Dymocks on the night.

In this session Tanya Maidment from Green Life Organics will introduce Dr Salim Ismail, who will talk about different ways in which you can improve your health.

Dr Ismail is a General Practitioner who specialises in Integrative Health and Regenerative Medicine with a keen interest in the therapeutic benefits of essential oils.
