This intensive course will introduce student to the foundations of casting and mold making.

Developing life casting skills by creating hands and faces.

Students will learn the alginate method of life casting including material preparation, material mixing and application.

Dr. Drewfus Gates, a physicist and accomplished artist promises this very special workshop will provide our artists with necessary knowledge around the technical aspects and application of colour. Gain an understanding of colour mixing and how to get colours you want, the shades, tones, tints and more.

Students will learn the theory of colour, how to mix any colour, and the spiritual , emotional and psychological impact of colour in making an effective composition.

This course will explore the ideas and processes of paint, collage, pop art and palimpsest.

The aim of the course is to offer students the skills to communicate ideas through their paintings by using layering of symbols, text and images. We will engage in an exploration of meaning through everyday objects and images. This course is beneficial for all skill levels from beginners to more advanced painters. Individualised tutoring is standard and each student can work comfortably at his or her own pace.

During this intensive course you will develop confidence, inspiration and skills to design and create unique contemporary jewellery.

You will learn basic jewellery construction (cold joining techniques) and be pointed to resources that will enable you to repair, reconfigure and create your own jewellery/wearable pieces.

This intensive course will focus on the fundamental elements of picture construction, the sourcing and developing of images, and their extended applications (i.e. drawing for painting).

This workshop welcome beginners and the more advanced, alike.

Terms and Conditions.

This intensive course will introduce you to the fun of making pinhole cameras from a box or tin can and then using them to take photos, which we will then develop in a dark room.

It will also explore various other experimental camera-less photographic processes, such as photograms and cyanotypes. These photo paper negatives can then be scanned to create larger images, which you can develop further in Photoshop, used to create collage, wherever your imagination leads you.

This is an 8 week course where students will learn how to develop a garment collection from concept to design. Garment designs are developed from an idea or collection of ideas which influence the form of the garment. Students will first engage in developing a concept or series of ideas that will be translated into garment design. Students will also learn how to draw fashion illustrations and technical drawings. There will also be the opportunity to develop some basic fabric manipulation techniques and explore the structure of these fabrics on the body.

Students will learn some basic felting techniques which have the potential to be applied sculpturally as well as in developing lengths of cloth. Using fleece sourced locally from crossbred sheep, students will learn both wet and dry felting, nuno felting and form felting.

Experimentation in combining wool with other fibres and types of cloth will be encouraged.

These workshops will provide an introduction to pottery with an emphasis on hand building, although wheel work will also be introduced. Different types of clay, surface treatments, glazing will be discussed. The emphasis of the course will be on various hand building techniques and methods and developing a ‘feeling’ for handling clay.

This course will introduce students to the basic elements and principles of how light and atmosphere works and how to see the light through an artistic eye. Mixing colours and tonal values etc will be covered as well as how to apply it to canvas. D’Hange has created a simple step by step method that is easy to understand. This technique will be demonstration throughout this course.

This 8 week introductory course will give students a foundation to the relief printmaking technique known as linocut. Linocut can transform simple images into dramatic graphic forms, producing bold and exciting prints. Over the course you will learn to plan an image, cut a lino plate, and create positive and negative lines. Students will also discover and experience 4 colour reduction prints and produce a small series. The process is very hands on and easy to learn, allowing the students lots of opportunities to develop images and prints during the course, and skills to take home.

In this course Drewfus shares the fast route to getting a likeness he has distilled from over 25 years of portrait painting. The techniques will be taught to sharpen perception of colour and light, i.e. to see what really is there. Dramatic brushwork, character and composition will be explored.

This class is aimed at utilising basic sculpture processes to achieve a visual investigation in 3D form based on urban phenomena. Casting and construction techniques will be followed by quick documentation and brief critical analysis to explore further possibilities for sculpture practice.

Silk screen prints have long been used by artist such as Andy Warhol and can produce quick clean prints that can be easily layered and manipulated.

The intensive course will be an introduction in learning the techniques of how to produce a stencil print and how to layer stencils to form an image.

Students will be able to create prints to take home and learn the basics of silk screen printing.

Terms and Conditions.

Learn how to understand light and atmosphere using Watercolour. You will be taught methods of paint application for simple compositions of seascapes and landscapes, interiors and portraits. This class is for beginners through to advanced artists.
