Ellenbrook

Ellenbrook is a rapidly developing residential area, with a population of 14,186. Located in the mid-West of the Swan Region, Ellenbrook Place includes the suburb of The Vines, most of Aveley and Ellenbrook and part of Henley Brook.

Settlement of the area dates from the 1830s, when the first land grant was made, with land used mainly for farming. Significant residential development did not take place until the 1990s, when rapid growth occurred, particularly with development of The Vines and seven villages around the town centre at Ellenbrook.

Between 2001 and 2006, the population almost doubled and rapid population growth is expected to continue. Most households (87%) are family households, with most resident adults (28%) aged 30-44 years. The attraction of young families to Ellenbrook Place is highly evident, with 19% of all children aged 5-14 years.

Major features and attractions of the area include:

  • The Vines Golf Course;
  • Ellenbrook shops;
  • Woodlake Sports Ground;
  • Sandown Park;
  • Coolamon Oval;
  • several lakes; and
  • primary and secondary schools.
