Volunteers, along with carers, are often the unsung heroes of our community. Yet, without their hard work and commitment, many people would not and could not enjoy the quality of life that they do.
The foundations for the City of Swan Community Care Services were laid down by a group of volunteers over 30 years ago. Due to the drive of our dedicated volunteers and Volunteer Advisory Committee, the service has continued to be a success in helping frail aged and those with disabilities throughout the community.
If you ask any of our valued volunteers why they volunteer, you’ll probably hear the same answer time and again. Quite simply, they find the experience highly rewarding and embrace the fact that they can make such a difference to someone’s life.
If you’d like to “volunteer to be a volunteer”, why not join our team? We’ll provide all the training you’ll need, reimburse your travel expenses and provide insurance cover. You’ll also have the chance to learn new skills and make new friends along the way.
Opportunities often exist for drivers and bus assistants, day centre activity assistants and occasionally for office and workshop assistants. Start times each day vary depending on your volunteer role. The Activity Clubs for Adults operate Monday to Saturday (closed Public Holidays) at various venues within the City of Swan.
If you’re interested in volunteering with Community Care Services, we’d like to hear from you. So, please contact our Coordinator of Volunteers on 9267 9055 to make an appointment.
