Literacy Planet by Intrepica is a high-quality, play-based, literacy resource with more than 10,000 activities online for children of all ages and ability. Children and parents can select from activities focusing on pre-reading skills, phonics, reading, spelling, vocabulary, grammar and comprehension in a fun, exciting and safe online environment. To access this database from home you must be a member of a Western Australian public library.
For Early Years
Busythings is an online resource for the early years that includes over 115 fun learning activities that help children learn important skills in the key learning areas of creative development, problem solving, reasoning, numeracy, communication, language and literacy and knowledge and understanding of the world. This subscription service has been provided through Better Beginnings - a State Library of Western Australia initiative supporting families in sharing a love of reading.
e-Books for e-Kids
The TumbleBook Library is an online collection of animated, talking picture books, which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read or have read to you.

ABC for Kids
The Playground is a rich and happy environment for children to explore. It's also a detailed information point with easy access to your favourite ABC Kids' characters, TV programs and online games.
Created by the Reading Is Fundamental organisation, Reading Planet is a fantastic site for rhymes, songs and finger plays with voice and images to guide you. You'll also find some great online story books, games and puzzles.
Britannica Junior is a version of the Encyclopaedia Britannica Online Library Edition created especially for readers at primary school.
Starfall is a free public service to teach children to read with phonics. Their systematic phonics approach, in conjunction with phonemic awareness practice, is perfect for preschool, kindergarten, first grade, second grade, special education, homeschool, and English language development.
NOTE: Whilst a great resource, be mindful that Starfall is an American based website and as such contains American spelling and pronunciation.
