Seniors enjoyed a toe-tapping trip down memory lane at the City of Swan’s sold-out Silver Linings Variety Show.

Swan Active Beechboro hosted the much-loved annual gathering on Wednesday, September 20.

More than 500 people enjoyed the show, with live performances ranging from the big band swing era to stars of the 1960s and 1970s.

David Lucas, City of Swan Mayor, welcomed attendees with a message of gratitude.

“The City of Swan is proud to sponsor this event as a way of giving thanks to so many of you who have contributed to the community throughout your lives,” Cr Lucas said.

“I have been lucky enough to attend many of these shows and each time, I am transported back to my youth with music that makes me smile.”

The show's opening act, the talented jazz duo of Adam Hall and Tim Voutas, got the morning off to a high-energy start.

Fresh from their European tour with The Velvet Playboys, Hall and Voutas had the crowd up and moving.

The hits kept coming with Roseen Pearse channelling her inner Karen Carpenter, Jay Weston paying tribute to Roy Orbison and Jerry Salonga singing the songs of Jim Reeves.

Seniors had the choice to sit back and soak up the nostalgia or hit the dance floor to boogie the morning away.

Either way, they enjoyed creating new memories while reliving old ones.

The show received rave reviews, with members of local groups Swan Club and Blokes Bus giving it their ringing endorsement.
