Children’s Animated Film Making a Success Over the second week of the October school holidays, Ellenbrook children worked together with expertise from local community groups to create a mini animation movie.
Alien space mice from the moon of cheese will suddenly land in the story of Cinderella to be performed in Ellenbrook this Christmas and the children’s mini movie explains why.
“During the holidays the City of Swan coordinated children’s workshops to produce the different elements and stages of the movie to be screened before the Ellenbrook Arts pantomime,’’ Ellenbrook Ward councillor Natasha Cheung said.
She said they included cartooning workshops to create the mice and painting workshops to create the backgrounds, with community members from the Ellenbrook Art Group and four individual sessions of animation workshops with members of the Photographers Group of Ellenbrook.
“My favourite part was putting my mouse in the door of the rocket,” workshop participant Hunter Hynds said.
Kaitlin and Jasmine Pradhan said they enjoyed using a computer space bar to take photos and some of the boys enthusiastically manipulated the rocket flames, while the older children became expert stop motion animators.
Nick Gohrt from the Photography Group said it was a really nice opportunity to mix with the kids and see how they enjoyed themselves.
“I’m editing the movie now and it’s turned out much better than we expected.”
The editing of the movie will be ready for its screening on December 30.
“It was a real fun event I certainly enjoyed it. It was a learning experience for us too as we only had rudimentary knowledge of the process. Now we have got all that information for next time,’’ Mr Gohrt said
Cr Cheung said the City of Swan would like to thank the community groups involved and The Shops at Ellenbrook for their partnership.
The Cinderella Pantomime runs from the December 30 until January 9 in the Ellenbrook Performing Arts Theatre. For further information contact Ellenbrook Community Development Support Officer Trudi Bennett on 9297 9607.
