Seeking comments for the Draft Malaga Local Area Plan

The City of Swan values your comments and feedback to help form the Malaga Local Area Plan.

The City of Swan undertook online community consultation from September to October 2018, which informed the strategies and actions in the draft Malaga Local Area Plan.  The City of Swan now invites you to comment on the draft Plan before it is presented to Council for their endorsement.

The draft plan will be available for comment for 28 days from April 9, with submissions closing on May 6, 2019.

Last year's community consultation, was guided by the feedback from the first Malaga Local Area Plan. Since the adoption of the first Malaga Local Area Plan in 2015, the following actions have been implemented

  • The City continues to work closely with the Malaga Crime Management Forum.
  • The City has installed additional CCTV cameras and updated CCTV signage.
  • The City has rezoned land in prominent locations to Highway Service Zone to allow for a greater diversity of land uses.
  • The City completed an open space study in Malaga to investigate opportunities for open space/lunch space for the working community.
  • The City conducted impact assessments to understand the impact of Northlink and road constructions on accessibility to Malaga.
  • The City constructed an on-road cycling lane on Victoria Road from Marshall Road to Malaga Drive.
  • Ballajura Police station opened on 9 January 2017 with a dedicated policing team for Malaga.
  • Works have been completed on rehabilitating the BushForever Banksia woodland along Reid Highway.
  • The City continues to liaise with State Government to assist in planning for public transport in Malaga.
  • The City launched the ‘Reduce Illegal Dumping’ program to help fight against the illegal dumping of waste.
  • The City has installed additional on-street parking bays including, but not limited to, on Milrose Dr, Beringarra Ave, Irvine Dr and Harlond Ave.
