A diverse & robust economy
The City of Swan benefits from a strong economic environment in Perth’s north east metropolitan region.
With 10,000 businesses providing employment to approximately 73,000 workers, there are more jobs in Swan than the total number (70,600) of our employed residents.
Over the last decade, our gross regional product (GRP) has grown from $5.5 billion in 2005/06 to $9.1 billion in 2015/16. The number of people working in the City of Swan has increased by 23,400 over the same period, industry output has increased by $7.0 billion, local sales are up by $4.8 billion and imports and exports have increased by $2.9 billion and $2.2 billion respectively. In fact, all of our economic indicators have shown very positive results in recent years and we expect this to continue well into the future.
