A diverse & robust economy
The City of Swan benefits from a strong economic environment in Perth’s north east region.
With 10,400 businesses providing employment to approximately 68,000 workers, there are nearly as many jobs in Swan as the total number (74,200) of our employed residents.
Over the last decade, our gross regional product (GRP) has grown from $6.8 billion in 2007/08 to $9.9 billion in 2017/18. The number of people working in the City of Swan has increased by 9,000 over the same period, industry output has increased by $3.1 billion, local sales are up by $1.5 billion and imports and exports have both increased by approximately $1.7 billion. In fact, all of our economic indicators have shown positive results in recent years and we expect this to continue well into the future.
