Represent your community on waste
Have your say about the future of waste management in the City. Expressions of interest are open to City of Swan residents and business representatives to form part of a new voluntary Waste Advisory Group. The Group will be made up of three elected City Councillors, eight selected community representatives and City of Swan staff who together will make recommendations to the City to help the community reduce waste. Experience and knowledge in waste management is not essential.
Applications close Monday, September 24. More information here.
Safety on NorthLink WA construction site
NorthLink WA is a $1.02 billion jointly funded Federal and State Government initiative being delivered by Main Roads Western Australia.
In the road reserve behind Ellenbrook and the Hepburn Avenue area at Ballajura and Whiteman Park, there have been significant changes since construction began earlier this year. Clearing is almost complete, and fencing and signage are in place wherever possible along the site boundary.
Construction for the NorthLink WA central section has brought heavy machinery, bulk earthmoving equipment and trucks operating along the entire length of the corridor. Members of the community are now risking their safety by entering the site. When people visit the site to walk their dog or take a short-cut, not only are they endangering their own lives, they're putting the safety of our construction workers at risk.
Please follow all signs around the construction sites. If you are unsure about accessibility to the area, contact our community team on 1800 874 998 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Food sharing network
Are you a food business or a not-for-profit organisation in the City of Swan? Help redirect good food from landfill to those who most need it. ReFood is an electronic food sharing platform that operates through a mobile app. Register food that is safe to consume, but unsaleable via the app. This food is then collected by community organisations for their members.
