Review of Heritage List and Local Government Inventory
The City of Swan has recently undertaken a review of its Heritage List and Local Government Inventory. We have been assisted in this process by the TPG + Place Match, our appointed heritage consultants.
The City currently has four heritage management categories for places on the Local Government Inventory, which are (highest to lowest) Exceptional Significance, Considerable Significance, Significant, and Some Significance.
Places in the two highest categories form the City’s Heritage List.
The review proposes the following changes to the Heritage List and the Local Government Inventory:
- Minor change to the wording of the categories of significance in order to bring the reviewed lists in line with the current recommendation of the State Heritage Office;
- Exclusion of all the properties that are under the planning control of the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority (MRA); and
- Re-classification of a number of properties that may have been substantially modified, demolished or new information about them has become available.
In addition to this review process, a number of properties that get nominated from time to time have also been assessed for potential inclusion on one or both lists.
The submission period for comment on proposed changes to the Heritage List and the Local Government Inventory is now closed.
