Escape to Everywhere

Each year across Australia, The CBCA brings children and books together celebrating CBCA Children’s Book Week.

During this time schools, libraries, booksellers, authors, illustrators and children celebrate Australian children's literature.

Importance of reading

Reading is incredibly important for both adults and children, leading to long-lasting identity formation and setting up success for the future.

City of Swan Libraries hold regular Rhymetime and Storytime sessions to encourage a strong interest in reading at an early age. We also provide free access to a host of great online content as well.

Rhymetime

Suitable for babies 2 to 24 months old

Singing rhymes and songs together is a lovely way to bond with your child and will help them learn to talk. Sharing books, stories, songs and rhymes builds vocabulary and the language and listening skills which are essential in preparing children for school.

Storytime

Suitable for preschoolers aged 2 to 5 years old

Storytime is a unique opportunity for both adults and children to focus on books, stories and rhymes. These free weekly sessions are held at all City of Swan Libraries. We look forward to sharing stories, rhymes and fun with you and your family.
