Whenever you want to borrow an item, it's essential you have either your Library Card or your phone with the card stored on an app, with you. Otherwise, we can't loan the item to you. And, to make it even easier for you, Beechboro, Ballajura, Bullsbrook, Ellenbrook and Guildford and Midland libraries have self-service loan units, so you can check-out your own loans. We also have a Drop-Point Library for the Gidgegannup area where you can collect items you reserved or return them during opening hours without going to one of the six other libraries.
You can borrow available items from City of Swan libraries for four weeks. And, if that's not enough time, you can easily renew your item by phone, in person at your nearest branch, or the online catalogue by signing in to your account.
Library members can borrow up to 20 physical items (eg books, DVDs, CDs) at any given time. In addition to the 20 physical items, members can also borrow items from the eLibrary (eg eAudiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines).
Once you're a City of Swan library member, you can easily manage your account, including reserving and renewing items online by signing in to the Members Area.
We are always looking for ways our collections can meet your needs and interests. If the item you’re after isn’t at one of our library branches, you can place a request via our online Item Request form, or ask our staff to assist you. We often purchase items you request, which means other patrons have a chance to enjoy them too. We also have access to the state-wide Inter-library loans system.
You can return your items at any of the City of Swan's six libraries during normal opening hours. Items do not have to be returned to the same branch at which they were loaned from.
If you can't make it during opening hours, simply pop your returns in any of our after-hours return chutes.
An after-hours return chute is located at the Guildford Public Library or you can also access the after-hours return chute located at the Beechboro Public Library branch during the opening times of the adjoining Swan Active Beechboro complex.
