The City of Swan has awarded a $15,000 event sponsorship grant to Midland Junction Collective to help fund the upcoming Cale Street Festival.
The popular festival returns for its second year on Sunday, February 23 with the theme “wheel-ability.”
The free event will include a range of wheel themed features like bike workshops, chocolate wheels, pedal-powered smoothie machines, community artwork, demonstrations and more.
There will also be live music, delicious food, pop-up street bars, market stalls and roving entertainers.
Local businesses will add to the excitement with special offers available on the day.
City of Swan Mayor Kevin Bailey said the City is delighted to support the return of the successful Cale Street festival.
“This festival is a celebration of community spirit, the amazing people that live here and what Midland has to offer,” he said.
“I hope to see everyone down there for a great family day out.”
Midland/Guildford Councillor Claire Scanlan said the City provides event sponsorship for both small local activities through to major events.
“We are committed to supporting community initiatives including events, activities and projects,” she said.
“It’s great to see passionate community groups like Midland Junction Collective making the most of our grants program.
“The community make the City what it is, and we are thrilled to support them to create events.”
Midland Junction Collective Chair Elizabeth Archer said the Cale Street Festival could not have happened without the support of the City of Swan.
"Midland is a really interesting, diverse place - we've got lots to celebrate, and the Cale Street Festival is a brilliant showcase of our arts, culture, and local flavour,” she said.
"We're very grateful that our Council is there to support our work."
