Nominations for Local Government elections set to open

This is your chance to get local and get vocal and make a difference to your community.
The nomination period to run as a candidate in the upcoming Local Government election opens on September 7 and closes at 4pm sharp on September 14, 2017- so make sure you get in early.
Western Australian Electoral Commissioner David Kerslake said nominating as a candidate was a great way to influence your community’s long term vision.
“Standing for council provides an opportunity for citizens to be directly involved in shaping their local community; Councillors make critical decisions that directly impact the lives of local residents.”
If you’re interested in running, you will need to make an appointment with the City of Swan’s WA Electoral Commission Returning Officer and lodge your nomination.
To nominate, you must make a valid nomination application which consists of:
- A completed nomination form and candidate profile. it is recommended that candidates use Nomination Builder to complete their nomination form and construct their candidate profile.
- A deposit of $80 (cash, bank cheque or postal order); and
- A recent passport-sized photograph (optional).
