Our conservation estate
The City’s conservation estate includes over 1,180 hectares under City management. There are 44 bushland and 73 foreshore reserves totalling approximately 1,200 hectares. These special areas have environmental, cultural, aesthetic and recreational importance.
The City also has some of the most significant communities of flora and fauna in the metropolitan area and it is this biological heritage that the City is looking to maintain, enhance and sustain.
The City’s commitment to the management of its natural environment and resources is addressed in two key strategy documents, the Local Biodiversity Strategy(PDF, 21MB) and the Sustainable Environment Strategy(PDF, 4MB).
