Disposal of household hazardous waste (HHW)

There are a number of household items that are classified as household hazardous waste (HHW) because they contain heavy metals or other dangerous chemicals. These cannot be disposed of in your household (green top) rubbish bin, your recycling (yellow top) bin, or your bulk verge collection. HHW items include batteries and compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) light bulbs.

Household hazardous waste items must be taken to a disposal site.
