Industrial development

Industrial areas within the City of Swan continue to thrive, with key industrial areas such as Malaga, Hazelmere and Bullsbrook experiencing investment growth and making significant contributions to the local economy.

Covering an area of 660 hectares, Malaga is the City's major industrial area with more than 3,000 businesses providing employment for approximately 17,000 workers, many being local residents. The Manufacturing, Construction, Wholesale Trade and Retail Trade industries together employ approximately 70% of all workers in Malaga.

The Hazelmere industrial area spans 1,241 hectares and is located immediately north east of Perth's domestic and international airports, and has ready access to major road transport routes including the Tonkin, Roe, Reid, Great Northern and Great Eastern Highways. In recent years, the area has seen significant development with a number of high profile national and international companies choosing Hazelmere as the ideal location to invest and establish their businesses.

Bullsbrook is located on the Great Northern Highway, 25 kilometres north of Midland. Considerable expansion of the commercial and light industrial areas has been taking place in recent years and is set to continue into the future, making Bullsbrook another major industrial area in the City of Swan.

Long term planning shows that an area of almost 3,000 hectares in the north east sub-region of metropolitan Perth is being considered for future industrial development, the majority being in the Bullsbrook and North Ellenbrook areas.
