The Swan Volunteer Resource Centre (SVRC) hosts various training sessions throughout the year. Some are open to all community members and others are specifically targeted to local organisations operating with the assistance of volunteers.

2021 Step Into Volunteering sessions

Step Into Volunteering sessions are of value to those who are looking to volunteer for the first time and those who already volunteer but are seeking different experiences. They are held at the Old Midland Courthouse, 49 Helena Street Midland from 10am - 11.30am.

  • Identifying the skills that you have to contribute
  • Rights and responsibilities of volunteers and volunteer involving agencies
  • How to find the right volunteering position
  • There will be guest speakers from various volunteer involving agencies

Facilitated by Louise Giles from Volunteering WA.

This session contributes two points towards the Continuous Professional Development Program for Volunteer Managers.

This information-rich introductory workshop is essential for everyone managing or coordinating volunteer efforts.


May 7, 2021 - The A to Z of Boards of Management

Facilitated by Wendy Lamotte of Making a Difference Enterprises.

This session will help you understand the role and function of your board of management and is essential for board members wishing to maximise their contribution, potential and effectiveness. The session will include non-profit law, regulatory considerations and practical and innovative ideas.


May 19, 2021 - Designing A Successful Virtual Volunteering Program

Facilitated by Louise Giles from Volunteering WA.

Celebrating National Volunteer Week’s theme of Recognise, Reconnect and Reimagine.

This workshop explores what virtual volunteering is and why you should be considering ways to incorporate it into your volunteer programs.

This session contributes two points towards the Continuous Professional Development Program upon completion. A further three points will be awarded if your organisation implements virtual volunteering.

• All sessions will be held at the Old Midland Courthouse,  49 Helena Street Midland

• Sessions will commence with registration and networking opportunities over coffee at 9am.

• All sessions run from 9.30am – 12.30pm

• Concluding with a light lunch and networking opportunities.
