Amendment No.199 to Local Planning Scheme No.17 - To insert new Clause 5.11 Protection and Relocation of Native Fauna under Part 5  General Development Requirements and to insert new Clause (xii) under Part 5A Structure Planning Areas 5A.1.6.1 (f)

The objective of this scheme amendment is to ensure the effective management of native fauna by the landowners and/or developers of land proposed for urban development such that impacts arising for displaced fauna are minimised.

The scheme amendment will ensure a Fauna Management Plan is required under the Local Planning Scheme for structure plans, major subdivisions and/or earthworks applications.

A local planning scheme amendment is required alongside a Local Planning Policy to ensure ongoing contingency in the planning process. The Local Planning Policy is currently at its final stages and sets the direction to the translocation of kangaroos in areas with proposed structure plans, subdivisions and/or bulk earthwork applications.

The Policy may be subject to review if this proposed Scheme Amendment is gazetted, to broaden the native fauna species covered by the local planning policy.

This scheme amendment involves changes to the text only through the additions of new clauses in the existing text. The objective of this scheme amendment is to ensure the effective management of native fauna by the landowners and/or developers of land proposed for urban development such that impacts arising for displaced fauna are minimised.
