Proposed Scheme Amendment No.201 is an applicant-driven proposal to add 'Garden Centre' as a discretionary (‘D') land use on the former Guildford Post Office site, with three (3) Conditions.

If ultimately approved it will allow the applicant to submit, retrospectively, a planning application for a Garden Centre operation which commenced on the site in 2013. Council can apply its discretion as to the conditions whereupon it might be prepared to approve the existing Garden Centre. Future planning applications must comply with the three (3) Conditions identified in the execution pages of the Initiated Amendment Document.

Note this proposal does not rezone the land, rather it updates an existing Additional Use layer (AU 55) that applies to this land to include ‘Garden Centre’ and Conditions 1, 2 & 3.

'Garden Centre' will be added to the following existing discretionary ('D') uses under Additional Use No.55 in the City's Local Planning Scheme No.17:

  • 'Cultural Use';
  • 'Civic Building';
  • 'Museum';
  • 'Restaurant'; and
  • 'Shop' (Restricted to cultural/heritage and tourism sale of goods).
