Place Management model
Our Place Management approach to service delivery recognises that the City is made up of many local communities (Places). Planning for such a diverse area requires creative solutions. The main objective of the Place Approach is to ensure that the City is working as one in its planning and delivery of services, programs and infrastructure unique to each Place. It shifts the focus from organisational outputs to community outcomes.
The delivery of the Place Approach is the responsibility of all City staff led by your local Place Management team.
Local Place Management
Place Management is a coordinated, area-based, multi-stakeholder approach to improving 'Places'. It harnesses the skills, experiences and resources of those in the private, public and voluntary sectors. This is best achieved by building strong relationships through regular proactive engagement. Place Management has numerous aspects, mostly aimed at managing, marketing and making places better. It also encourages more people to visit, and local community to connect with their own place.
Local Place Managers
The City's Place Managers seek to improve the quality of life for each unique community. They are located in Community Hubs and Place Offices throughout the City, alongside other City service teams. Place Managers work with multiple stakeholders, and develop plans, to help City teams coordinate and target their services. They engage and interact with the community.
Local Management Areas
Distinct 'places' are often created by; the environment, urban planning or natural boundaries; population density and infrastructure or where communities of interest, who share similar aspirations, come together to interact and/or access City services or just connect with a place.
The City is comprised of 13 Local Areas that allow us to plan and focus on unique community needs and aspirations. These Local Areas are grouped into Management Areas to balance the workload and stakeholder management responsibilities of the City's Place Managers.
There are five Place Management areas where you can access services or meet your local Place Manager. They are located in Altone, Ballajura, Ellenbrook / Bullsbrook, Midland and Gidgegannup. Each Place has a decentralised office to better service its people. The City has five Place Managers who operate from these offices, together with other City staff including (but not limited to); Library Information Officers, Community Development and Youth Development Officers, Leisure staff and Community Safety Advocates.
