The Local Government Act 1995 states that the City must hold:
- a General Meeting of Electors once every financial year, and
- a Special Meeting of Electors upon presentation of a petition signed by 100 or more electors.
Annual Meeting of Electors
The purpose of the meeting is as follows:
- To receive the annual report, annual financial statements and auditor's report for the previous financial year, and
- Other general business.
The date for the next City's Annual Meeting of Electors will be announced in due course.
Special Meeting of Electors
As outlined in the Local Government Act 1995, electors of the City may call for a special meeting by submitting a request in a specified form(PDF, 41KB) to the Mayor. The request must be signed by at least 100 electors and specify the matters to be discussed.
The special meeting must be held no more than 35 days after the day on which the Mayor receives the request.
People wishing to request a Special Meeting of Electors are encouraged to contact the City's to discuss the matter.
Special Meeting of Electors: Tuesday, August 31, 2021
In response to a valid Request for a Special Meeting of Electors, the CEO convened a Special Meeting of Electors as follows:
Date: Tuesday, August 31, 2021
Time: 7pm (doors open at 6pm)
Place: Multipurpose Hall, Swan Valley Anglican Community School
As per the Request, the details of the matters discussed at the meeting were:
The Vines (WA) proposed Master Plan
- Removal of nine (9) holes of golf course
- Provision of extra housing
- Senior Lifestyle Village
- Loss of habitat for wildlife
Impact the above will have on the surrounding community.
