Water is a precious resource in Western Australia, making it essential to find ways of reducing our consumption and protecting our water sources. An effective way of doing this is by using greywater systems. These systems allow householders to re-use waste water from bathrooms, kitchens and laundries on gardens and lawns, thus saving on water consumption.
If you’d like to install a greywater system on your premises, you’ll first need to lodge an Application to Construct or Install an Apparatus for the Treatment of Sewage(PDF, 336KB) with the City of Swan’s Health Services. This is to ensure that the system is of an approved design and is properly sized and located.
It's an offence to install a waste water system without City approval, and to commission the system prior to final inspection and approval to use from the City.
