We recommend you have your physical library card, or store the card number on an app, when you visit your library. This makes the borrowing process easier and allows you to use our self-service loan units located at Beechboro, Ballajura, Bullsbrook, Ellenbrook ,Guildford and Midland libraries. We also have a Drop-Point Library for the Gidgegannup area where you can collect items you have reserved or return them during opening hours.
You can borrow available items from City of Swan libraries for four weeks and items can easily be renewed by phone, in person at your nearest branch, or the online catalogue by signing in to your account.
Library members can borrow up to 20 physical items (e.g. books, DVDs, audiobooks) at any given time and can also borrow items from the eLibrary (e.g. eAudiobooks, eBooks, eMagazines).
Once you're a City of Swan library member, you can manage your account, including reserving and renewing items online by signing in to the Members Area.
A full list of membership guidelines can be viewed here(PDF, 66KB) .
We are always looking for ways our collections can meet your needs and interests. If the item you’re after isn’t at one of our library branches, you can place a request via our online Item Request form, or ask our staff to assist you. We often purchase items you request, which means other patrons have a chance to enjoy them too. We also have access to the state-wide Inter-library loans system.
You can return your items at any of the City of Swan's six libraries during normal opening hours. Remember, many of our libraries are open on weekends for your convenience. Items can be returned at any branch regardless of where they were loaned.
If you can't make it during open hours, simply pop your returns in any of our after-hours return chutes.
An after-hours return chute is located at the Guildford Public Library or you can also access the after-hours return chute located at the Beechboro Public Library branch during the opening times of the adjoining Swan Active Beechboro complex.
