How to use ticket machines

City of Swan On-Street Ticket Machines:

There is an on-street ticket machine location map available showing parking facilities across the Midland CBD which include paid and permit parking as well as time limited bays.

Check the nearest sign to see how long you can park for free in the location you have parked. Paying is a three-step process.

To claim your free time period – if you require your parking spot for two hours or less – press the yellow button with the two circling arrows. Then press the green button with the tick icon to print your ticket.

Once your ticket prints, it’s a matter of displaying it on your car’s dashboard – passenger side, clearly visible and right side up so it can be easily viewed by a Parking Officer.

If you need to stay longer than the free period, you’ll need to make a payment when you buy your ticket. The free period is automatically included.

If you have coins, we accept 10 cent pieces up to $2 coins – once you’ve reached the time you need, press the green button with the tick icon to print your ticket.

From there, you simply display it on the passenger side of your car’s dashboard.

If you’re paying with a credit card, we accept Visa and MasterCard – you can insert the card or use PayWave. Insert your card, making sure the numbers are facing up and to the left.

Next, you’ll need to select the time you require. Press the plus and minus buttons to either add time, or reduce it. Once you’ve selected the right time required, press the green button with the tick on it to print your ticket, and then display it on the passenger side of your car’s dashboard.

If you prefer to use PayWave, start by selecting the time you need by pressing the plus and minus buttons – to either add time, or reduce it. Then press the green button with the tick, wait for the ticket machine to say it’s ready, and tap your credit card on the PayWave sensor.

A few things to remember when buying a ticket – no refunds or change is given, and you can cancel the transaction at any time by pressing the red button with the cross icon if you make a mistake – and prior to pressing the green button.
