The name “Baskerville” was the namesake of an estate owned by prominent Perth landowner William Tanner in 1831. Baskerville was subdivided in the early 1900s and was used for the soldier settlers’ scheme in the 1920s. The Upper Swan Memorial Hall and Recreation Ground opened in 1923, with the hall rebuilt in 1955. Its renovation was to commemorate those who gave their lives in World Wars I and II and the Boer and Korean Wars.
