The City of Swan has been recognised by the Leisure Institute of Western Australia, winning a prestigious state-wide industry award at the WA Aquatic Recreation Industry Awards.
The award submission centred on the City's Access All Areas program and the support it provides in reducing financial barriers to participation across the City.
The Peter Hobson Community Impact Award, sponsored by Fluidra, celebrates facility-based aquatic recreation programs that promote access and inclusion, enhance community well-being, and create a lasting positive impact. The award spotlights initiatives that increase community engagement, support user groups, and drive behavioural change toward healthier lifestyles and broader social benefits.
As these awards are part of the Leisure and Aquatic industry sector, the submission focussed on the social value of the program across the City. The submission was linked to impact of the support over previous years to indigenous children, including Binar and Koya, which has facilitated access and supported Binar participants along their journey, which is now broadening into bigger and broader social capacity outcomes for the community.
