Midland Junction Arts Centre

Midland Junction Arts Centre

Situated in the heart of Midland, Midland Junction Arts Centre (MJAC) is a vibrant visual and performing arts facility managed by Mundaring Arts Centre Inc. (MAC Inc.) with the support of the City of Swan.

Always acting as a convergent point for community education, the building first opened as a small school in 1895. The space then expanded to provide primary, secondary and even tertiary education when the technical college opened in 1904. Since then, the arts centre acted as a home for Kalla Yeedip Arts in the 1990s and Midland Opera Studio (2002 - 2008), before reopening under MAC Inc. Management in 2017.

MJAC now delivers a diverse arts education and cultural program to stimulate increased imagination, creativity, skills and knowledge. A curated exhibition program is complemented by regular workshops for all ages, an artist in residence program and a range of cultural events.

This historical venue is available for community hire and offers three galleries, a 142-seat theatre, dedicated ceramics and print studios, textiles and drawing rooms, classrooms, a function room as well as a range of workspaces for artists, workshops and meetings.

The City of Swan supports art exhibitions and workshops at this venue. View current events and exhibitions on the Midland Junction Arts Centre web page.
