Proactive grants are designed to empower you to set up services and respond to changing community needs.
The current community needs targeted through our Proactive grant stream include:
- Homelessness support
- Environmental sustainability and biodiversity protection
- Social connection among vulnerable populations
Additionally, this type of grant allows for the purchase of minor capital items – that's anything that lasts longer than a year and costs under $5,000. If you have a project that includes some larger, long-lasting purchases that enable you to deliver services to the community, tell us about it through an Expression of Interest (EOI.)
If your EOI fits the above priorities and indicates that you're capable of delivering on your ideas, then we will ask you to complete a full application.
We aim to confirm whether we'd like you to progress to a full application within 21 business days, or four weeks. Full applications will be assessed around 8 weeks from the date you submit. These response times are impacted by program demand and are not guaranteed.
For successful applicants, payment can take City teams up to 30 days to process from the date you return a signed Agreement and invoice.
In the current grants climate, we strongly recommend planning contingencies for the possibility that your application is not successful, that you’re awarded less than requested, or that you’re awarded after event or project commencement if successful.
