Grow a cooler, greener neighbourhood
Branching Out is a free City of Swan program running from April to June, designed to support residents to plant, care for and enjoy the benefits of trees at home and in their local suburbs.
Planting and caring for trees are one of the simplest and most effective ways to cool our homes and neighbourhoods, support local wildlife and create greener, more enjoyable streets.
In 2026, Branching Out is coming to Beechboro and Caversham, with easy, practical ways for everyone to learn and get involved. Whether you are a first-time tree planter or an experienced gardener, there is something for everyone.
How to get involved
Branching Out workshop series
Register for one or all five free Branching Out workshops. Led by local gardening experts and the City, these sessions are suitable for all experience levels.
Door prizes are available at every workshop, and a major prize draw for City residents who attend four or more sessions and complete program surveys, with the opportunity to win a one-hour garden consultation with Neville Passmore.
