Beginner Sewing Series: Make your own small tote bag

Event description

Over four monthly sessions, you'll learn the basics of sewing while creating your own lined tote bag, similar to the one pictured.
Perfect for beginners, this hands-on workshop will guide you through:
- Setting up and using a sewing machine
- Basic sewing techniques and skills
- Understanding fabrics and construction
- Adding pockets and other features
- Creating handles and finishing touches
What to bring: Please bring a towel, tablecloth, tea towel, or a length of sturdy fabric to start your project, recycled and upcycled fabrics are encouraged. BYO sewing machine, or use one of ours.
No prior sewing experience required. All skill levels are welcome.

Please note that this is a course and patrons are required to attend all sessions. Only book in if you can attend each of the following sessions:

  • Session 1: Friday, July 31 2026 | 1pm - 3pm
  • Session 2: Friday October 23 2026 | 1pm - 3pm
  • Session 3: Friday November 20 2026 | 1pm - 3pm
  • Session 4 :Friday December 18 2026 | 1pm - 3pm

Please book in as spaces are limited.  
This program is suitable for Adults and is a hands-on workshop. Please book one ticket for each person attending. Photography and videography may be taken at this event. Images and footage may be used by the City of Swan and event organisers for marketing and promotional purposes.
