Rates are a simple and effective way of paying for the development and improvement of vital community services, such as roads, footpaths, parks, libraries and leisure centres – just to name a few.
Why your rates may vary this year
This year is a State-led property revaluation year. Once Landgate provides the City with property valuations, we must use these new values to calculate rates. This means individual rates may vary if your property value has changed.
The City is proposing a 5.5 per cent rate increase for 2026/27, equal to about $1.69 extra per week for the average household.
Feedback on the proposed differential rates is open until June 18, 2026.
