Guildford
Guildford was so named after the town of Guildford in Surrey, England. Before the dramatic introduction of the railways in the 1880s, Guildford was a thriving commercial centre. As the furthest navigable point on the river, it became the (Swan River) colony’s inland port. Guildford was declared an Historic Town in 1984.
