Creative minds are invited to transform old farm materials into works of art, with entries now open for the 2026 Australian Rustic Farm Art Awards.
Now in its fifth consecutive year, the outdoor sculpture competition celebrates the creativity that can emerge from scrap metal, broken-up machinery, timber, and other farm-related materials to create ‘Junk Art’ or ‘Farm Art’.
The awards began in 2022 as an outlet for community members and residents affected by the devastating Wooroloo bushfire in 2021. Since then, it has become a popular annual showcase for both emerging and experienced artists.
This year’s exhibition will be held as part of the Gidgegannup Agricultural Show on Saturday, October 31, 2026, with entries displayed throughout the event for the community to enjoy.
The 2026 exhibition carries special significance as the Gidge Show celebrates its 80th anniversary. To mark the milestone, this year’s theme is 1940s to Now, encouraging artists to explore change, continuity and memory eight decades of rural life and community connection.
Participants are encouraged to get creative with materials laying around their property, or sourced from the local waste transfer station, turning everyday items into imaginative works of art.
There will be prizes up for grabs which will be announced later this year.
