The official opening of the Ellenbrook Community Centre on Saturday, January 31, 2026, marks the final milestone of the eagerly awaited facility set to become the community heart of one of the City of Swan’s fastest-growing suburbs.

The community-driven $9 million project was made possible by $3.5 million funding from the State Government’s Department of Local Government, Industry Regulation and Safety, a contribution of $2 million from the Federal Government’s Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts, and $2 million in support from Lotterywest, as well as a $1.5 million contribution from the City of Swan.

Tania Lawrence MP, Federal Member for Hasluck, said she was delighted to see the project reach its conclusion.

"The Ellenbrook Community Centre will serve not only Ellenbrook but also its neighbouring, fast-developing communities," she said.

“This is a shared space for so many of our wonderful local groups. It is another great example of different levels of government coming together to serve the needs of our growing communities."

Deputy Premier Rita Saffioti MLA, Member for West Swan, said she was looking forward to seeing the Centre become a major focus for community-based activities in the rapidly growing region.

“Facilities such as the Centre perform an essential role in bringing communities closer together,” she said.

Tanya Richardson, City of Swan Mayor, said the milestone is a proud moment for the City.

“This is a hugely exciting day for Ellenbrook. We are proud to be delivering on our promise to provide a modern, accessible community space for residents to call their own,” she said.

The Ellenbrook Community Centre will bring diverse groups together within a central, purpose-built facility. The Centre provides district-scale function, activity and workshop spaces designed to accommodate a wide range of community uses, providing extra function spaces within the area. Importantly, the project has been community-driven, shaped by local needs and aspirations.

The Men’s Shed will benefit significantly from expanded and purpose-designed workshop facilities, including dedicated spaces for woodwork and metalwork. These improvements will also support associated arts and skills-based programs such as stained glass and photography, enabling greater participation and skills development across the community.

Supporting the development and construction phases of the project were Castle Projects, Site Architecture, and Hodge Collard Preston Architects.
