As part of the City of Swan’s Urban Forest Strategy (2022), we’re planning to plant trees along roadside verges across the City, including your street. This project will help grow our tree canopy, improve air quality, support local wildlife and make our neighbourhoods greener and more enjoyable.
The selected trees are mostly native species, as they are well-suited to our local conditions. Once established, they need less water, support native birds and insects, and help create connected wildlife corridors. The City will water and maintain the new trees for the first two years to establish them. After that, they should require little to no maintenance. We do encourage residents and property owners to monitor and care for trees planted on their verges.
Project status
- Community consultation is being conducted in November – December 2025.
- Planting is expected to take place between April and August 2026, when the wetter weather gives new trees the best start.
