Prohibited burning period has started

The City of Swans Prohibited burning period commenced on December 1, 2025 and runs to March 31, 2026. All burning is prohibited including garden refuse and campfires.

High call volumes

Changes to kerbside bin collection days this holiday season

As Christmas Day and New Year’s Day fall on a Thursday, your usual kerbside collection may be picked up one day after your normal collection day.

If your usual collection day is:
- Thursday, December 25, 2025, your bin will be collected on Friday, December 26, 2025
- Friday, December 26, 2025, your bin will be collected on Saturday, December 27, 2025
- Thursday, January 1, 2026, your bin will be collected on Friday, January 2, 2026
- Friday, January 2, 2026, your bin will be collected on Saturday, January 3, 2026.
Bins must be placed out by 6am.

Recycling centre closures

The Recycling Centre – Malaga and Recycling Centre – Bullsbrook (including Containers For Change) will be closed Christmas Day, Thursday, December 25, 2025 and New Year’s Day, Thursday, January 1, 2026.

Standard operating hours apply for the rest of the festive period.

Volunteering

The Swan Volunteer Resource Centre will be closed from 12noon, Thursday, December 18, 2025, reopening 10am, Monday, January 19, 2026. The Midland office and library hubs will be closed until Monday, January 19, 2025. The Beechboro and Ellenbrook hubs will be closed until Wednesday, January 21 and the Bullsbrook Hub will be closed until Thursday, January 22, 2026.

Volunteer expressions of interest will be processed when we reopen, however some general enquiries may be responded to from mid-January 2026.
