Gifts & travel

The City of Swan’s Councillors and Chief Executive Officer are required to disclose gifts received in their capacity as a Councillor or Chief Executive Officer worth more than $300 within ten days of having received the gift. This includes multiple gifts or contributions from the same donor where the total value is over $300 during a year. A register of gifts is required to be kept and published on the website.

There are currently no entries in the Councillors and CEO Gift Register.

City of Swan employees are also required to disclose gifts valued between $50 and $300 received from a person undertaking or seeking to undertake (or it is reasonable to believe they intend to) an activity involving local government discretion within ten days of having received the gift. This includes multiple gifts or contributions from the same donor where the total value is over $300 within a year. Gifts over $300 are prohibited. A register of gifts is kept for internal record keeping.

 

Prior to changes in legislation that came into effect on February 3, 2021, a register of gifts received by employees were required to be published on the City's website.

Prior to changes in legislation that came into effect on October 20, 2019, gifts and contributions to travel received by Councillors and designated employees worth over $200 were required to be published on the City's website.
