The City of Swan film-friendly guidelines outline how the City manages filming requests, the types of support that may be available and how decisions are made fairly and transparently. Please note that this guideline does not include the provision of grants or sponsorship.

Through this framework, the City of Swan aims to:
  • Promote the City of Swan as a desirable location for feature films, television productions and other screen content 
  • Create opportunities for local businesses to benefit from film and media productions
  • Support film projects that align with the City’s economic development objectives and destination marketing strategies 
  • Provide clear and consistent guidance for managing filming requests and associated support.

Ready to apply?

We can’t wait to get things started, but first, we just need a few key details to ensure the right approvals are in place and your production runs smoothly.

To allow sufficient time for necessary approvals, please submit requests at least two weeks before your planned filming. Requests submitted with less than two weeks’ notice may not be approved.

To help us process your application, please provide:

  • A copy of your Certificate of Currency for Public Liability
  • Filming location(s)
  • Date and time of filming
  • Number of cast and crew involved

A brief description of your project, including:

  • Purpose of the filming
  • What will happen on the day
  • Any special equipment you'll be using, including power needs, generators, lighting, smoke machines, dollies, scaffolding, etc.

Current minimum insurance requirements:

  • Public Liability: $10 million
  • Product Liability: $10 million
  • Professional Indemnity: $5 million.

If your production involves drones or filming on public roads, additional approvals may be required, including traffic management plans, which must be submitted at least six weeks in advance.
