Event description
The WanderFest Gidgegannup Trail is designed for beginner and first-time hikers, offering an easy-going 3km walk through one of the Perth Hills’ most underrated pockets of wilderness.Tucked away in F.R. Berry Reserve, one of the largest nature reserves in the City of Swan, this out-and-back trail winds through jarrah, marri, and wandoo woodlands, following the gentle curves of Wooroloo Brook and skirting granite outcrops dusted with wildflowers in spring. The terrain is mostly flat with a few short, fun inclines—just enough to add a little adventure without being too much.
Led by an experienced guide, you’ll get to know the land as you walk—learning about the honey possums, bobtails, Gould’s monitors, and the endangered Carnaby’s cockatoos that call this reserve home. Spring turns the landscape into a wildflower wonderland, with Vanilla Sun Orchids, Swamp Banksias, and One-Sided Bottlebrush lighting up the trail.
At the waterfall lookout, take a moment. Soak it all in. This isn’t about speed or distance—it’s about feeling the ground beneath your feet, moving your body, and letting nature work its quiet magic.
If you’ve ever thought about hiking but weren’t sure where to start, this is your moment.
The Perth Hills WanderFest series is proudly supported by the WA State Government through the Department of Creative Industries, Tourism and Sport (CITS).
