Pound details

All impounded animals are checked for registration and microchip identification on arrival.

Cat identification must be via a collar and a microchip. The collar must have the cat’s name and your current address and telephone number. Microchips must contain your name, current address and telephone number. 

The pound maintains identifiable animals for a maximum period of seven days. If any details are obtained, correspondence is sent to the last known owner/address. After this, the animal may be re-homed, sold or humanely put down.

Please ensure you provide photographic identification when wishing to collect your animal.

The City of Swan has a duty of care to remove deceased animals within its road reserves and City lands. If any registration information is found on the deceased animal the City’s animal registration records will be updated.

All fees must be paid in full before the animal is released. If your cat or dog is unregistered, it must also be registered before it can be released from the pound.

If for any reason you are unable to keep your dog or cat, you can request to surrender it to the pound for a fee of $80 for cats and $140 for dogs.
