Characterisation for Writing (Novels)

Event description

This short workshop immerses participants in the essential elements of characterisation.

Writers will learn how to design multidimensional characters with clear motivations, internal conflicts, distinct voices, and meaningful arcs that evolve.

Participants will explore how we show personality through action and dialogue, developing relationships between characters, and how characters influence plot.

The end outcome is that learners will have created a character portfolio and gained skills to craft protagonists, antagonists, and supporting figures.

Please book in as spaces are limited.
This program is suitable for adults aged 18+ and is a hands-on workshop. Please book one ticket for each person attending. Photography and videography may be taken at this event. Images and footage may be used by the City of Swan and event organisers for marketing and promotional purposes.
