Immunisation protects people against harmful infections before they come into contact with them in the community. Immunisation uses the body’s natural defence mechanism - the immune response - to build resistance to specific infections. Immunisation helps people stay healthy by preventing serious infections.

Local Clinics - Childhood Immunisation

For information on free local immunisation clinics near you, visit the Department of Health website. Some clinics allow walk ins however many require bookings in advance.  To make a booking please refer the relevant clinic phone number as provided in the Department of Health document. The Central Immunisation Clinic in West Perth also runs after hours clinics twice a month which may be more convenient for working parents.

Additional Providers

Immunisations, both childhood and adult, can be obtained from your General Practitioner, Community Health Clinics, some Local Governments and Aboriginal Community Health Services. Children also receive immunisation in Year Seven at school through the school immunisation program.

You will need to call these providers directly to find out clinic times and locations. Please also be aware that General Practitioners may charge a consultation fee.

Australian Childhood Immunisation Register

The Australian Childhood Immunisation Register (ACIR) (Medicare Australia), records information about immunisations given to children under seven years, who live in Australia.  Children under seven years who are registered with Medicare, are automatically included on the ACIR (Medicare Australia).
